THE STORY
I was inside a Gothic cathedral once, somewhere in Europe, I don't remember which city. It was the middle of the afternoon and the place was nearly empty. I sat down in one of the pews and looked up at the rose window above the altar: an enormous circular stone frame filled with intricate carvings, light pressing through every cut-out, every void, turning the cold stone into something almost alive. What stayed with me wasn't the grandeur. It was the detail at the center, the part that held everything together, small, precise, quietly commanding the entire composition. I thought about how the most powerful thing in that room was also the smallest. Maude started in that pew.

THE CRAFTSMANSHIP
Maude is a wide statement ring shaped like a Gothic medallion, its body cast from gold-plated copper in a wide horizontal silhouette that spans across the finger with quiet authority. At the center, a circular rose window motif filled with an intricate cut-out cross pattern, open and architectural, light passing through it the way it passes through cathedral stone. Flanking the medallion on each side, two trefoil cut-out wings extend outward, each one set with a single 5A diamond-cut black zirconia stone, dark and precise, the only shadow in all that gold. The adjustable open back ensures a perfect fit on any finger.

THE STYLING ADVICE
Maude belongs on a single bare finger with nothing else competing. It reads best against deep tones: a black dress, a burgundy sleeve, a rich emerald coat.
